- Many people have problems configuring the colour option on this printer.
- Fitting the motor and ribbon is usually no problem, the problem usually lies
- in setting the printer to recognise the colour kit. The following procedure
- explains how to do this.
-
- 1. Switch on your printer and ensure it is OFF LINE.
- 2. Press the MENU button once.
- 3. Press the JUMP button once.
- 4. Press the MENU button once.
- 5. Press the SELECT button once.
- 6. Press the SAVE button once.
- 7. Press the JUMP button 5 times.
- 8. Press the SELECT button twice.
- 9. Press the SAVE button 3 times.
-
- Installation now complete.
-
- To test that the installation was successful put paper in the printer and
- switch on whilst holding down the JUMP key. This will perform a self test and
- print different coloured text.
-
- When you switch on the printer you will see MACRO 1 flash on the printer
- display. This means that the printer has been set to the setting saved in
- MACRO 1. The above steps 1-9 changed MACRO 1 to tell the printer it has a
- coloured ribbon installed. The macro feature of the Swift is very powerful and
- something that is well worth closer investigation with the aid of the manual.
-
- The Swift 24x is a wide carriage printer, don't forget to make the margin
- settings within Preferences to add up to 136, such as Left Margin 5 and Right
- Margin 131.
