  20. There are two drivers on the disk for this printer, one ends with Epson the
  21. other with NEC. The 124D has two emulation modes and you should use the driver
  22. corresponding to the emulation mode you are in. If you, at this stage not
  23. familiar with emulation modes you should use the Epson driver as this is the
  24. default emulation mode of the printer.

  27. CHANGING THE SERIAL INTERFACE SETTINGS

  29. The manual doesn't document how to change the settings of the Serial
  30. Interface, baud rate, parity etc. The below diagram lists the DIP switches on
  31. the Serial interface itself and what they do:

  115. Many people have problems configuring the colour option on this printer.
  116. Fitting the motor and ribbon is usually no problem, the problem usually lies
  117. in setting the printer to recognise the colour kit. The following procedure
  118. explains how to do this.
  119.  
  120. 1.  Switch on your printer and ensure it is OFF LINE.
  121. 2.  Press the MENU button once.
  122. 3.  Press the JUMP button once.
  123. 4.  Press the MENU button once.
  124. 5.  Press the SELECT button once.
  125. 6.  Press the SAVE button once.
  126. 7.  Press the JUMP button 5 times.
  127. 8.  Press the SELECT button twice.
  128. 9.  Press the SAVE button 3 times.

  130.     Installation now complete.

  132. To test that the installation was successful put paper in the printer and
  133. switch on whilst holding down the JUMP key. This will perform a self test and
  134. print different coloured text.

  136. When you switch on the printer you will see MACRO 1 flash on the printer
  137. display. This means that the printer has been set to the setting saved in
  138. MACRO 1. The above steps 1-9 changed MACRO 1 to tell the printer it has a
  139. coloured ribbon installed. The macro feature of the Swift is very powerful and
  140. something that is well worth closer investigation with the aid of the manual.

  142. The Swift 24x is a wide carriage printer, don't forget to make the margin
  143. settings within Preferences to add up to 136, such as Left Margin 5 and Right
  144. Margin 131.
